"To market, to market, to buy a fat pig..." Or maybe more practical items on Facebook's Marketplace

In 2009 Facebook launched “Facebook Marketplace Powered by Oodle”. Oodle is an online classifieds service that organizes millions of listings. So Facebook called in Oodle to lend its expertise to Facebook’s marketplace. In the blog posted on Facebook’s site, “Oodle has built an entirely new version of Marketplace focused on giving people a place to buy, sell or give things away to the people they know.” While this has been around for over a year, Facebook is now conducting a strong push for more users to utilize the application with messages and updates to members.

You can choose whether to buy from anyone on Facebook or if you prefer, only from your friends. Marketplace makes the listings in a similar format to Facebook’s traditional status updates. Facebook’s Marketplace also gives you the chance to give back with “Sell for a Cause”. With this feature, can donate your earnings from what you sell to participating charities of your choice. The Facebook Marketplace Powered by Oodle provides a more open atmosphere for buying and selling. You can see the profiles of who is buying your product or who you're buying from rather than only be shown "anonymous".

What are your thoughts on the application?
